Back to Plum

The fruit of Cacak’s Early is ripe for picking in late June and early July. The fruit itself is large to extremely large, oval in shape and in shades of purple and blue. The flesh is yellow-green, firm, quite juicy and having sweet aroma. The pit detaches from the flesh (freestone variety). Fully ripe fruits have short shelf life and poor shipping quality. Otherwise it is a good shipper.

Cacak’s Early plum is an old cultivar of Serbian origin. It resulted from the cross of Wangenheims Frühzwetsche and Pozegaca. It is susceptible to late spring frost. As an early dessert cultivar of excellent quality and cropping potential it is highly recommended for growing. It has good transport qualities and satisfactory resistance to diseases. Moderately susceptible to the causal agents of red leaf spot and rust, and practically resistant to the causal agents of fruit and flower rot. It is tolerant to Plum pox virus.  Relatively highly priced in the market.
